Condition Grading Standards

EGO Arms uses six standardized condition grades. Every seller must accurately grade their firearm before listing. Every buyer should understand exactly what each grade means before bidding.

Never fired · All original accessories · Original factory packaging

Original Condition

What this grade includes

Unfired — zero rounds through the barrel
Original factory box, all packing materials intact
All included accessories: magazine(s), lock, manual, warranty card
100% original factory finish — no handling marks anywhere
Factory test-fired rounds (standard manufacturer QC) are acceptable — must be disclosed
No modifications of any kind, including optics mounts or trigger work

Disqualifies from New In Box

✕Any rounds fired by the seller (factory QC test-fire is separate — must be disclosed)
✕Missing original box or any factory-included accessories
✕Any visible handling marks, fingerprints, or cosmetic imperfections
✕Any aftermarket parts or modifications
✕Replaced grips, stocks, or furniture

● Grade 2

Excellent

Minimal use · No finish loss · Cosmetic marks only

95%+

Original Condition

What this grade includes

Very light handling marks — barely visible without close inspection
No finish loss — bluing, Cerakote, or finish is intact everywhere
Bore is clean and sharp, crown undamaged
All functions operate smoothly as designed
Light holster wear on muzzle or finish edge is acceptable if disclosed
Grips/stocks original or matching quality replacements — must be disclosed
Under 500 rounds typical — must be disclosed as estimate

Disqualifies from Excellent

✕Any visible finish loss, bare metal spots, or worn-through areas
✕Pitting anywhere on metal surfaces
✕Bore fouling, erosion, or visible wear rings
✕Cracks, chips, or breaks in stocks or grips
✕Rust, even surface rust

● Grade 3

Very Good

Normal use wear · Minor cosmetic imperfections · Fully functional

80–94%

Original Condition

What this grade includes

Visible but minor wear consistent with regular use or carry
Light finish thinning at edges and high-contact points
Small areas of finish loss acceptable — must be photographed and disclosed
Bore in good condition with no erosion
All safeties and mechanical functions fully operational
Stocks/grips may show normal handling wear, minor dings
Minor pitting in non-critical areas is acceptable if disclosed

Disqualifies from Very Good

✕Significant finish loss over large surface areas
✕Active rust (surface patina on antiques is acceptable)
✕Bore erosion or significant rifling wear
✕Any mechanical malfunction or inconsistency
✕Cracked, broken, or repaired stocks
✕Refinished without disclosure

● Grade 4

Good

Heavy use · Significant wear · All major parts functional

60–79%

Original Condition

What this grade includes

Significant finish wear, loss, or fading over multiple areas
Possible polishing or re-bluing that has aged
Heavy holster or carry wear acceptable if disclosed
Replacement parts acceptable if disclosed and original-spec
Surface rust that has been cleaned but left patina
Stock or grip cracks that have been repaired — must be disclosed
Bore shows wear but firearm is still safe to shoot

Disqualifies from Good

✕Active, uncleaned rust compromising metal integrity
✕Missing or non-functional safety mechanisms
✕Cracked or pitted barrel
✕Undisclosed replacement parts that affect value
✕Bore that is unsafe to fire

● Grade 5

Fair

Heavily worn · Possible issues · May need service

40–59%

Original Condition

What this grade includes

Heavy wear throughout — most original finish gone

Active pitting or corrosion that has been stabilized

May require gunsmith inspection before regular use

Replacement or non-original parts throughout is common

Mechanical function may be intermittent — must be fully disclosed

Non-original stocks, grips, or furniture standard at this grade

Listing requirements at Fair grade

!All known mechanical issues must be explicitly disclosed
!Photos must show all areas of wear, damage, and corrosion
!If firearm has not been test-fired recently, state so
!Any misrepresentation at this grade results in immediate removal

Misrepresentation policy: Sellers who Create a Listing at a higher grade than its actual condition are subject to immediate listing removal, suspension, and dispute resolution in favor of the buyer. When in doubt, grade down — an honest lower grade earns better reviews than an inflated grade that disappoints a buyer.
