Description ≥ 150 words

This is a 1968 Colt Government Model 1911-A1 in .45 ACP, one of the cleanest examples of a commercial-production 1911 from this era that you are likely to find at auction. The pistol retains the vast majority of its original blued finish — bright, even, and without the pitting or holster-drag commonly seen on carry pieces of this vintage. The checkered walnut grips are original and show only the lightest handling wear consistent with a gun that was owned, carried rarely, and cared for properly.

Included with the firearm is the original Colt cardboard box with all period-correct markings, the factory instruction sheet, the hang tag, and the original warranty card — all in excellent, uncirculated condition. This is a complete, matching set. The box alone adds considerable collector value.

The pistol has been test-fired but never used as a carry gun. The barrel crown is clean and undamaged. The recoil spring shows no set. The frame-to-slide fit is tight with zero play. The trigger breaks cleanly at approximately 5.5 lbs — right where Colt set it. All original parts, no aftermarket modifications of any kind.

This is a collector piece, not a shooter. Sold as-is. All known flaws are documented in the Condition tab. Buyer is responsible for verifying all details through their FFL prior to transfer. A NICS background check will be required. Seller is a licensed private individual in Arizona — no C&R license required for this transaction, but FFL transfer is mandatory per federal law.

Rounds Fired (Seller Estimate)
~150 – 200 rounds
Seller's estimate based on purchase records and range sessions. No round counter was used. Barrel and crown show consistent minimal wear with this figure.
Known Flaws Required Field
All known defects must be listed. Omitting flaws is grounds for listing removal.
  • Minor holster wear on muzzle crown — a faint circular scuff ring approximately 2mm wide at the very tip of the muzzle, consistent with light holster carry. Finish is intact underneath; no metal loss. Cosmetic only, no effect on function or accuracy. Cosmetic
  • Faint freckling on left rear grip panel — a cluster of approximately 4–5 very small (sub-1mm) surface marks on the lower rear corner of the left walnut grip panel. Does not penetrate the finish. Barely visible without magnification. Cosmetic
  • Light handling marks on slide serrations — the rear cocking serrations show light fingertip wear consistent with normal handling over 50+ years. The bluing is thinned but not missing at the top serration edges. Minor
Seller's Note
"I've photographed every flaw I could find under strong directional lighting. The pistol is exactly as described. If you can find something I missed, contact me before bidding and I'll clarify — I'd rather lose a bid than have an unhappy buyer."

Seller Guidance

What separates a good auction
from a great one.

Every requirement on EGO Arms exists for one reason: to help sellers earn what their firearm is actually worth. Buyers bid with confidence when they know exactly what they're getting — and confident buyers bid higher.

📸
Photography
Six standardized angles are required: left profile, right profile, muzzle, action, grips, and any accessories or documentation. Blurry, dim, or staged photos are rejected during listing review. Daylight or lightbox photography is strongly recommended.
Minimum 6 photos required
🎯
Round Count
Buyers are paying for accuracy. Provide your best estimate of rounds fired — a range is acceptable ("150–200"), as is "unknown." What's not acceptable: leaving the field blank. A missing round count signals the seller either doesn't know or doesn't care.
Required — estimate or state "unknown"
🔍
Known Flaws
Every defect, mark, or imperfection must be disclosed — no matter how minor. This is not a liability: it's proof of honesty. Sellers who disclose every flaw accurately receive higher ratings, fewer disputes, and more repeat bidders. If there are no flaws, state "none."
Required — none is a valid answer

Description
Minimum 150 words. Write the listing you would want to read as a buyer. Include provenance, usage history, any modifications, accessories, and anything that makes this firearm worth bidding on. Listings without descriptions receive substantially fewer bids.

The data is clear.
Quality listings win.
Listings with six or more photos receive an average of 3.4× more bids than listings with fewer. Fully documented flaws — every defect, honestly described — result in 12% higher final prices on average, because buyers trust what they can verify. A well-written description isn't filler. It's the difference between a cautious opening bid and a competitive auction. The requirements aren't bureaucracy. They're the mechanism by which EGO Arms sellers consistently sell for more than they expect.
